Review: Ocean’s 8 Show Great Teamwork of Hollywood A-Listers
A team of criminals who work together to do their action is what Ocean’s franchise is all about. After getting several installments that feature Hollywood male heavy hitters like Brad Pitt, George Clooney or Mark Wahlberg, now we get the female version of the series called “Ocean’s 8”. Slated to be a massive success this summer, “Ocean’s 8” got a lot to fulfill as far as expectations go. Gary Ross who helmed this project as the director put together a slew of casts that blew us away when it was first announced. There are Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. Sandra Bullock plays the role of Debbie Ocean, who was a convict of previous burglary that had served her sentence for five years and eight months. During her time in prison, she had been plotting a greatest heist of her career that would help her settle her life after prison. After she got out, she had to recruit eight specialists to steal a necklace worth 150 million dollars that was worn by actress Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) at MET Gala.
However, the plot feels predictable enough for those who have followed Ocean’s franchise religiously. There were some twists on the plot, but the twists themselves could not catch us unguarded. We hope to see more action packed scenes as it is deemed as a heist movie. If you love the amazing cast or a refreshing change from the male dominated Ocean’s franchise, then “Ocean’s 8” is the movie to watch this holiday. It is now screened nationwide across Indonesia.
