Khruangbin is Coming To Indonesia for Lokatara Live 2019!
US’ funk trio, Khruangbin, are about to embark on a tour of Asia and Indonesia is included as one of their destinations. The group who debuted with its album “The Universe Smiles Upon You” in 2015 will be here on March 18th, 2019. The event is promoted and organized by Lokatara Live who collaborates with VICE Indonesia. Becoming the first act that was announced for this session, Khruangbin will perform at Empirica, SCBD. In 2018, Lokatara Live has organized shows for various musicians like Phum Viphurit and Lamp. Lokatara Live has promised to bring out more foreign performers in 2019 and Khruangbin got the honor to be its first guest. For those who aren’t familiar with the band yet, let us give you a simple introduction to their amazing music. Laura Lee, Mark Speer, and Donald Johnson hail from Houston, Texas. Unlike their peers who do funk music, this band clearly stated in an interview with Noisey that their music is drawn from Thai’s funk music from the ’70s. This causes their music to heavily contain oriental vibes from Thai’s lounge or discotheque.
UPDATE: The presale tickets for Khruangbin’s show in Jakarta is sold for IDR290,000 through Eventevent’s app while the normal price will be sold at IDR379,000. The presale tickets are reportedly sold out, but the normal price tix are still available here.
