Tickets for Unknown Mortal Orchestra Concert in Jakarta is on Sale!
If you have been waiting for a long time to watch Unknown Mortal Orchestra performance in Indonesia, Noisewhore has granted your wish. As it has been announced last month that the New Zealand based band is coming to Jakarta, the tickets for the show is officially on sale. Ruban Nielsen has been making music for over a decade, he is known as an expert in experimenting genres and sounds. As Unknown Mortal Orchestra, their music is rather unconventional and the influences vary in each album. The latest record called “Sex and Food” which was released back in April is the latest testament to UMO’s new experiment. Recorded at Portland, Oregon as well as Reykjavik, Iceland, the result is a mix of various nuances and elements that he hasn’t explored before. It is an expansive progress that makes you think it is unlike UMO’s sound, but still retaining that character that is deeply rooted within UMO’s music.
Ruban then explained about the album “Sex and Food” briefly. “At first, I thought that this was going to be a sad record, like II,” he uttered when discussing how reflection helped push Sex & Food forward. “I was influenced enough by my own early stuff that I went into it thinking, ‘If I was a fan, how would I want to bring some of that back into what I’m doing?’” That old-becomes-new approach is more than apparent on the lush, beautifully understated “Hunnybee,” reminiscent of II’s “Swim and Sleep (Like a Shark)” and drawing lyrical inspiration from Ruban’s daughter, whose middle name gave ‘Hunnybee’ its title.” Ruban Nielson along with Jake Portrait (bassist) has already kicked off their tour in Europe and will start their Asia tour leg in September. Their first ever performance in Indonesia will be held at Empirica, Lot 8, SCBD on September 26th, 2018. This becomes a part of Noisewhore Live agenda that is held by this music collective based in Jakarta.
