Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) is reportedly going international by holding their first ever installment at the Republic of China. The news broke last week that the festival initiated and organized by Ismaya LIVE will be heading to China in 2018. Established in 2008, the festival’s long record of success has positioned them as one of the most sought rave party in Asia. With its world-class production and unique concept and themes each year, it is time for DWP to export their ideas to other countries. In the latest edition of 2017, the dance festival managed to gather 90,000 attendees on their two-day celebration. “In our 10th year, we are ready to take DWP to the next level by bringing the festival’s unique experience to China,” said Christian Rijanto, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Ismaya Group, the lifestyle company that houses Ismaya Live. China can be seen as the most potential market for the brand as in 2017, the country has become a host for two big EDM festival which are Ultra and Storm. DWP will go head to head with these two franchises as they plan to grow their businesses in the mainland this year according to CNBC.
This marks the first music festival from Indonesia that makes the international movement. Other countries have become a great exporter for music festivals such as USA, UK, Australia, and many more. DWP will follow the footsteps of Ultra Music Festival (US), Bestival (UK), Lollapalooza (UK), Laneway Festival (Australia), Primavera Sound (Spain), Tomorrowland (Belgium), and many more who have branched out their brands to other countries. “China is the perfect place to kick off our international expansion. The eclectic dance music scene in China is one of the fastest growing music scenes in Asia and the demand for a world-class dance music festival has never been this high,” explained Christian Rijanto about their China expansion decision.
