Gardika Gigih with Sorge Records Present a Music Video for “Kereta Senja”
It’s been a week since Gardika Gigih‘s first single called “Kereta Senja” from his upcoming full-length album “Nyala” was released. On 21 February 2017, Sorge Records as his record label revealed the music video for the single. The visual is a collaboration between Sorge Visual, Gardika Gigih, and Rekambergerak. Adhito Harinugroho, who is a videographer of Sorge Visual was appointed as the final editor for the video. He edited the existing documentation from Sorge and Rekambergerak who shot the live recording of the song back in Yogyakarta. For your information, the single was recorded live on 25-26 June 2016 at Seminary Room of Koendjono at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta in its complete set with string section and everything.
Dhito who usually shot documentation of political issues in Jakarta tried to interpret Gardika Gigih’s music into a visual. He admit that he does not usually listen to this type of music, nevertheless the composition of “Kereta Senja” has managed to touch him. He further states that this song is almost prayer-like instead of an ordinary song. Dhito combines the pre-existing documentary with an added visual interpretation that he shot in Jakarta. He asked his friend Angga Miga from Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Indonesia (Indonesia Legal Aid Foundation) to be the main model. It only took him 2 days to record the video and finished the editing process, and it was done just before the video was officially released. “The execution did not take long. Finding the concept was much longer, it took three days before finding the concept,” admits Dhito.
The 9 minutes plus visual is now available to be watched through Sorge Records’ Youtube account. You could get a glimpse of the place where the recording happened including all the musicians who participated in the song. Yes, there is Ananda Badudu of Banda Neira in the video, if you might ask. The cinematography of “Kereta Senja” brings honesty and rawness in black and white color tone, just like how the director intends it to be.
