Watch Puti Chitara’s Live Acoustic Rendition of “Snow In Summer”
It’s been two years since soloist and also a member of Barasuara, Puti Chitara put out a music video for her song “Snow In Summer”. Amidst her busy schedule with the band, she set aside a little time to do a new project in which she records a live acoustic rendition of her songs in a video format. She said, “This all began with my brief conversation with the founder of online media KANALTIGAPULUH on early October, which I was offered to record a live acoustic session in Yogyakarta and after I saw the concept I got interested with this project.” The project brought new challenge for Puti as she had to make her own arrangement of the song with string section, and only got the time to meet the string players on the day of recording.
The new acoustic version brings more dramatic musical arrangement than the original one. The string section makes the song come straight out of a fairy tale story. All the musicians were clad in black, adding more mysterious tone to the song. Puti herself plays the piano for this live acoustic rendition. Her voice matches well with the new arrangement and the minimalist background highlights her vocals more.
Despite the short encounter with the players, the recording process went well and took 4 hours to finish. The video production was done by the production team of KANALTIGAPULUH and the recording of acoustic instrumen was assisted by Seruniaudio. The video was shot at Jogja Audio School by Nerpati Palagan and Fahfan, while the string players are from Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI). The audio mixing was handled by Aditya Trisnawan from Threeways Studio in Jakarta. In near future, there will also be another live acoustic video for “Stratosphere” by Puti Chitara. We also hope that her new material is going to be released soon.
