Paramount Pictures finally present one of the most awaited film adaptation from legendary TV series, Baywatch. The project has become the talk of the town for quite some time, and the fans of the old series are eager to watch the lifeguards in action once again. The 90’s film franchise is now screening on theaters across Indonesia with an R-rated stamp for its use of profanity and adult content. David Hasselhoff who became the main actor in the TV series is now replaced by Dwayne Johnson or also known as The Rock. The Rock who plays the role of lifeguard Mitch Buchannon led his team in a mission to save their much loved California beach and take down a drug lord altogether. Joining his team is a set of gorgeous ladies and gentlemen who are played by Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, and Jon Bass. As a senior lifeguard, Mitch had to teach the new ones about the rules and the importance of saving lives and protect the beach, a principal that is hard to understand by Matt Brody (Zac Efron) who was a former Olympic swimmer who did a community service by being a lifeguard.
You could watch romantic story developing in this team and also jokes that include famous boyband’s member. Seth Gordon as the director brings a vivid color to this movie with the vibrant red suits worn by the lifeguards which strike against the white sandy beach backdrop. If you are there to watch meaningful sort of story, then you might enter the wrong studio. Baywatch is meant to relive the spirit of the 90’s series with a lot of dry comedic situation thrown in. It is a light and entertaining movie which managed to induce laughter from the viewers, as seen during a press conference we attended at Djakarta Theater XXI a while ago. Although fairly predictable, Baywatch might be a choice for the fans of old series even without the appearance from iconic David Hasselhoff or Pamela Anderson. You might want to see the chiseled abs of Zac Efron, muscular body of The Rock, or the pretty face of Priyanka Chopra.
